Solaris Paper

Solaris Paper is committed to increasing the sustainability of our customer’s facilities and businesses by providing paper towel and tissue products, along with advanced dispensing systems designed to minimize lifecycle impact.

We contribute to a sustainable building operation through extraordinary quality and value. This provides highly desirable products to end-user building occupants that are brighter, whiter and softer. We provide favorable economics to the commercial buyer and facilities management, along with a socially and environmentally responsible life cycle footprint.

Our sustainability programs apply to the full scope of our operations, extending beyond our walls upstream to our sources, including our primary strategic supply partner Asia Pulp & Paper (APP), and downstream to end-of product life scenarios.

Rapidly Renewable is a term that describes plant materials that harvest in a 10-year cycle or less. Rapidly renewable resources have been recognized for years by the U.S. EPA and the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) as raw materials that are environmentally preferred. Our Solaris Paper towel and tissue products are produced from Rapidly Renewable Fiber (RRF) from fast growing eucalyptus and acacia trees that flourish in warm, moist climates—and reach full height and maturity in 6-8 years, as opposed to old growth trees that can take 15-25 years to grow to full maturity. Young, fast-growing trees enable shorter harvest cycles yielding more paper from more trees on less land and in less time. That’s true sustainability in paper.

Moreover, RRF is virgin fiber. This means that it does not gain any additional energy footprint; which is collected from consumer recycle bins or the chemical impurity footprint associated with re-processing in de-inking plants. And the end-product is a whiter, brighter, softer, “greener” and smarter paper choice.

Solaris Paper, in cooperation with our strategic fiber supply partner, Asia Pulp and Paper (APP), continues to make sustainability a consistent top priority. From plantation grown rapidly renewable trees, to responsible fiber procurement and processing, new and innovative green practices are being implemented on a global scale. In 2013, APP adopted a new Forest Conservation Policy. This unprecedented policy announced an immediate end to all natural forest clearance throughout APP’s entire supply chain. Since then, APP has worked with various environmental groups such as The Forest Trust and The Rainforest Alliance to ensure this commitment is followed through.

Rapidly renewable resources are recognized by the U.S. EPA and the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) as raw materials that are environmentally preferred. By virtue of their greater potential to be replenished quickly, relative to other raw or base materials used for the same purpose, rapidly renewable fiber is considered to be a more sustainable choice.
